Studies bring new treatments
The Atlanta Allergy & Asthma Clinic has been actively involved in conducting clinical research studies for over 25 years. Striving to be on the forefront of gaining a better understanding of conditions affecting nasal allergies and asthma, The Research Department is actively performing research in these areas in order to develop new and more effective medications. Clinical studies are conducted for pharmaceutical companies on medications that may be beneficial to our patients. The studies are performed to determine how well the medication works (efficacy) or how long it lasts (duration). In order to assure the well being of study participants the medication being tested is usually compared to something else, such as a similar medication which is already on the market, and/or a placebo ("sugar pill").
Think you would like to get involved?
The criteria to participate vary from one study to the next. While participation is voluntary, research participants receive “at no cost “medical care during the study (care related to the study), medication, and a financial compensation after the study has been completed (between $50 and $ 2,000).
If you or anyone you know, is interested in learning more about our research and/or possibly participating, please contact us at 770-592-4210 (phone), 770-592-4218 (fax). Remember that it is not necessary to be a patient of one of our doctors in order to participate. Please feel free to pass along this information to anyone who might benefit from participating.
