J. Michael Halwig, M.D., received his bachelor's degree at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. He earned his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School where he also completed his residency in Internal Medicine. He concluded his training at Northwestern University Medical School with a fellowship in Allergy and Immunology.
Dr. Halwig is board certified by both the American Board of Allergy and Immunology and the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is an Assistant Clinical Professor at Emory University School of Medicine where he is active in the education of physicians-in-training and medical students.
Dr. Halwig is a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. He is a past president of the Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Society of Georgia. He has written several scientific articles which have been published in professional journals including the Journal of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, the American Review of Respiratory Disease, and Chest. Dr. Halwig also conducts a number of speaking engagements for patients and healthcare providers each year.
Dr. Halwig's special areas of interest include the management of asthma in infancy, anaphylaxis and chronic urticaria.
Dr. Halwig lives in Vinings with his wife Nancy and their two children, Courtney and Christopher. He enjoys exercising, listening to jazz, reading, fishing and spending time with his family.
Dr. Halwig has been a practicing allergist for more than 25 years and joined AAAC nearly 14 years ago. He sees patients at our Austell and Douglasville locations.
