The First FDA-Approved Treatment for Peanut Allergy Available at Atlanta Allergy & Asthma

Atlanta Allergy & Asthma is now offering PALFORZIA, the first FDA-approved treatment for pediatric patients with peanut allergy.

Atlanta Allergy & Asthma is now offering the first U.S. Food & Drug Administration-approved treatment for patients with peanut allergy. The treatment, called PALFORZIA, is indicated for children age 4–17 with a diagnosis of peanut allergy. PALFORZIA can reduce the risk of severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, that may occur with accidental exposure to peanuts.

PALFORZIA cannot be used for the emergency treatment of allergic reactions and those who take it must continue to avoid peanuts in their diets. PALFORZIA is a powder that is manufactured from peanuts and packaged in color-coded capsules that are mixed into semi-solid foods.

PALFORZIA will only be available from specialized medical professionals, including the providers at Atlanta Allergy & Asthma. Our practice is very familiar with this therapy as we participated in the clinical trials that lead to FDA approval.

Although not a cure, PALFORZIA is a significant step forward in the treatment of peanut allergy and in providing families with life-threatening food allergies an extra layer of protection. If you have questions as to whether this therapy might be appropriate for your child, contact your Atlanta Allergy & Asthma office to schedule a consultation with your provider.
