Atlanta Allergy & Asthma Welcomes Meera Patrawala, M.D.

Updated on Monday, October 11, 2021

Dr. Meera Patrawala’s connection to the field of allergy/immunology extends to her childhood. She remembers her brothers’ sleepless nights managing the incessant itching of his atopic dermatitis. Making sure his asthma inhaler was always within reach became a family responsibility.

When Dr. Patrawala entered medical school, she developed a keen interest in the constellation of symptoms physicians refer to as the ‘Atopic March’ during her immunology courses. The impact of those symptoms on her brother, and her entire family, cemented her desire to become an Allergist/Immunologist.

Dr. Patrawala received her medical degree from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Emory University in Atlanta. After completing specialty training in Allergy/Immunology at Emory, she then served as Senior Research Associate in Emory’s Department of Pediatrics. Her research has been published in respected medical journals and she has presented abstracts at both regional and national allergy/immunology conferences.

From a family of physicians, Dr. Patrawala finds her work as an allergist fulfills both her intellectual and humanistic interests as she works to improve the lives of her patients.

“Allergic diseases have a profound impact on people’s day-to-day activities as well as an impact on their long-term health. I love working together with a patient, and sometimes their family, to provide individualized care that improves all aspects of their lives.”

Dr. Patrawala and her dermatologist husband recently bought their first home and enjoy entertaining family and friends. In her free time, she plays tennis, exercises, and listens to audiobooks.

Dr. Patrawala will join Dr. Lily Hwang in the Alpharetta office and Dr. Judy Nam in the Hamilton Mill office. Schedule an appointment with Dr. Patrawala.
