Dear Patients,

I have made the difficult decision to retire as of September 25, 2025, after 46 years of providing allergy and asthma care to the Metro Atlanta community. It has truly been my privilege and an honor to be part of your healthcare journey.

It is humbling to reflect on the trust you have placed in me—often across multiple generations of your family. I have come to know many of you as friends, and I will deeply miss the relationships we’ve built over the years.

I am proud to have been part of Atlanta Allergy & Asthma, a practice made up of dedicated, board-certified allergists and an exceptional team of advanced practitioners, nurses, and administrative professionals. I am confident that you will continue to receive the highest quality care for your allergy, asthma, and immunology needs.

I am also pleased to introduce Shameela Khimani, M.D. who will assume my patient care responsibilities in the Buckhead and Johns Creek offices. Dr. Khimani is a well-trained, compassionate allergist, and I have every confidence in her ability to provide excellent care for you in the years ahead.

You will receive more information on Dr. Khimani and the transition in the weeks ahead. Continuity of care is our top priority, and Dr. Khimani will be supported by Joy Becker, PA-C in the Buckhead office, and Amy T. Lingenfelter, NP-C in Johns Creek—both of whom are valued members of our care team. Both Joy and Amy are available to see established patients in their respective offices.

I will continue seeing patients through September 25, so if you have any active concerns or would simply like to see me before I retire, I encourage you to schedule an appointment.

Thank you for allowing me the privilege of being part of your healthcare team. I will miss you and wish you continued good health and happiness in the future.

With warmest regards,
David D. Tanner, M.D.
