Patient Testimonial: Angela of Atlanta

Updated on Tuesday, September 1, 2015

At Atlanta Allergy & Asthma, we are always pleased to receive positive feedback from our valued patients. We also believe our current and prospective patients can benefit from learning more about Atlanta Allergy & Asthma and our physicians by hearing what others have to say.

Here, Angela of Atlanta discusses how Dr. Kathleen A. Sheerin helped her become aware of a more efficient allergy treatment regimen, the convenience of our kid-friendly offices, and the effectiveness of our Patient Portal system.

“I’ve had many more experiences with AAAC in the last 4 years, so I thought it was time to provide an update.

After 7 years of allergy shots (the majority on maintenance), Dr. Sheerin advised that I try life without them. I did. I went 9 months. It wasn't awful, but it wasn't as easy as life on shots. So I decided to start back. She informed me of the cluster shot option - getting the first few vials worth of buildup in the office in rapid succession so that I could get back to maintenance more quickly.

They’ve got a nice system of a scanned card for queuing for allergy shots. Just scan your barcode and they pull up your information. You do have to wait 30 minutes for the shot, but they've got free wifi and two TVs and lots of magazines. The technicians are friendly and understanding and will even ask where you'd like the shot positioned.

Unfortunately, my 4 year old recently had an allergic reaction (hives and trouble breathing). I brought him in to see Dr. Sheerin who both pediatric certification and specializes in food allergies. This office is pretty well equipped to deal with kids. One TV is always on the Disney channel. The exam room that we were shown to had a container full of blocks to keep him busy and amused. Dr. Sheerin and all the nurses had great bedside manner and were very reassuring through the skin testing process. Luckily he only needed 6 pricks!

Additionally, they strongly encourage the use of the online patient portal for questions and appointment scheduling. When I realized that I hadn't asked some key questions about my son's newly diagnosed allergies, I just emailed the doctor through the patient portal, and I got a response in less than 5 hours (it was during the same business day)!

Great practice full of friendly folks who really do work to help you feel better!”
